Free State Annual Suppliers Engagement Session Underway in Bloemfontein

BLOEMFONTEIN – The Free State Annual Suppliers Engagement Session (FSASES), organized by the Provincial Treasury and the Supply Chain Management Compliance team responsible for the Central Supply Database (CSD), has officially commenced today at the Musicon Facilities in Bloemfontein. This year’s session is designed to enhance the relationship between potential suppliers and the provincial government, fostering a robust platform for dialogue and development.

The FSASES aims to provide ongoing training and support to suppliers, covering essential aspects such as navigating the CSD, understanding how to conduct business with the state, exploring available funding models, and identifying business and construction-related opportunities. Additionally, the session will address critical issues such as tax compliance with the South African Revenue Service (SARS) and other regulatory requirements impacting local businesses.

“This session is a significant step in building stronger ties between suppliers and government entities,” said a spokesperson from the Free State Provincial Treasury. “We are committed to empowering our local businesses by providing them with the knowledge and tools necessary to thrive in the public sector marketplace.”

The event is a collaborative effort, supported by various stakeholders including the Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Department of Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (Destea), the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA), the South African Revenue Service (SARS), and the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB).

Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with government representatives, explore various business opportunities, and receive guidance on compliance and regulatory issues. The session is designed to ensure that suppliers are well-informed and prepared to participate effectively in government tenders and projects.

Dr. Lindiwe S. Mabuza, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, emphasized the importance of such platforms in promoting economic growth and development within the province. “By fostering a conducive environment for business development and ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks, we are paving the way for sustainable economic growth and job creation in the Free State,” she stated.

The FSASES also serves as a critical forum for networking and collaboration between the government economic cluster, the private sector, and civil society organizations. This inclusive approach is expected to enhance transparency, reduce barriers to entry for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and boost overall economic participation in the province.

The second leg of the FSASES will take place in Zastron, Xhariep District, on the 14th of August 2024. This extension aims to reach a broader audience, ensuring that all regions of the Free State benefit from this vital engagement.

As the session continues, participants are optimistic about the opportunities that lie ahead and the positive impact it will have on the local economy. The FSASES underscores the Free State’s commitment to fostering a dynamic and inclusive business environment, empowering suppliers, and driving sustainable development across the province.
