MANGAUNG, July 22, 2024 — The Mangaung Metro Municipality (MMM) has issued a statement warning residents about a possible power supply interruption that will occur due to planned maintenance by the city’s water provider, Vaal Central. The maintenance is scheduled to take place from July 23 to July 24, 2024.
According to the MMM spokesperson, Qondile Khedama, several areas may be affected by this interruption. "Residents are cautioned that areas supplied by Longridge, Lesaka, Tabali, OK, Motlatla, and Bloemdustrial reservoirs might be affected," Khedama said.
The maintenance is expected to last for 36 hours, from 01:01 on July 23 to 12:00 on July 24. During this period, the water supply will be temporarily halted to allow for essential upgrades and repairs to the water infrastructure.
“We will constantly update members of the community on the progress,” Khedama assured. “Mangaung Metro would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused.”
Residents are encouraged to prepare for the interruption by storing sufficient water for the duration of the maintenance period. The municipality also advises residents to check for updates on the MMM's official communication channels.
