Uncapped Internet Solutions Bridge Connectivity Gap in Underserved South African Regions

In the digital age, access to the internet is often taken for granted, but for many South Africans living in areas without LTE, 5G, or fibre coverage, connectivity remains a persistent challenge. However, amid this connectivity desert, there are beacons of hope in the form of satellite internet services and Wireless Internet Service Providers (Wisps) filling the void.

Satellite internet providers such as IcasaSePush, Vox YahClick, and MorClick have stepped in to offer uncapped internet services accessible from even the most remote corners of South Africa. Additionally, Paratus provides satellite business internet packages, albeit with pricing available only upon request.

Meanwhile, Wisps like Hero Wireless, RUSH Network, Supersonic, and Wirulink have emerged as crucial players in providing wireless internet solutions in underserved regions. By beaming signals from towers to antennas installed at customer premises, these Wisps offer a diverse range of packages, catering to various speed requirements.

A recent comparison conducted by MyBroadband sought to identify the most affordable options for those residing in far-flung areas, focusing solely on uncapped packages from both satellite internet providers and Wisps. The analysis revealed a spectrum of options catering to different needs and budgets.

For those seeking wireless internet solutions, RUSH Network emerged as a frontrunner, offering a 10Mbps fixed-wireless connection with 2Mbps upload on the Active Fibre network for a modest R325 per month. Supersonic, with its 'AirFibre' package boasting 5Mbps download and 1Mbps upload, followed closely at R399 per month.

However, for users requiring higher speeds, Supersonic and Wirulink presented compelling options. Supersonic's 100Mbps AirFibre package, priced at R999 per month, offers lightning-fast connectivity suitable for heavy internet usage. Similarly, Wirulink's 100Mbps package, while considerably more expensive at R3,099 per month, promises top-tier performance.
