Finding Healing Through Dance: Pacofs Showcases "Iqhawe Elingaphakathi Kum"

In a bid to shed light on mental health-related challenges, the Performing Arts Centre of the Free State (Pacofs) is set to captivate audiences with a contemporary dance performance titled "Iqhawe Elingaphakathi Kum" (Shadow Pillar) from March 14th to 16th, 2024.

Choreographed and performed by the renowned Mcebisi Bhayi, this thought-provoking dance piece aims to inspire individuals who find themselves grappling with life's challenges, urging them to delve deep within themselves to discover the resilience that lies within.

Maseeta Makgabane from Pacofs emphasized the significance of the performance, stating, "It’s a celebration of the indomitable spirit that resides within each of us. In a world filled with challenges, obstacles, and moments of despair, 'Iqhawe Elingaphakathi Kum' is testament to the power that lies beneath the surface – a shadow pillar that upholds us when we are on the verge of giving up."

More than merely entertainment, the production serves as a beacon of hope and encouragement, inviting spectators to reflect on their own journeys and the unseen strength that enables them to rise above adversity.

Local residents are encouraged to witness this transformative piece of art at the André Huguenet Theatre from March 14th to 16th at 18:30. Tickets can be purchased through Webtickets and Pacofs' booking office.

Through the medium of dance, Pacofs aims to foster dialogue surrounding mental health issues, offering a platform for reflection, understanding, and ultimately, healing. "Iqhawe Elingaphakathi Kum" promises to be a poignant reminder of the resilience of the human spirit, inspiring audiences to embrace their inner strength and confront life's challenges with courage and determination.
