Mangaung,– The Manguang Metro Municipality (MMM) under the leadership of Executive Mayor Gregory Nthatisi has embarked on a proactive mission to uplift the cleanliness standards within the region. The latest initiative, termed "Reclaiming the City," saw the deployment of Presidential Employment Stimulus (PES) participants to the Brandwag area, marking a significant step in the municipality's commitment to enhancing the environment.
MMM spokesperson, Qondile Khedama, reiterated Mayor Nthatisi's dedication to fostering a cleaner Mangaung. The initiative, which spanned three days, involved a multifaceted approach to tackling cleanliness issues. PES participants engaged in activities such as public cleaning, waste removal, weed eradication, sidewalk cleaning, and drain unblocking, all aimed at revitalizing the Brandwag locality.
Local businesses have also stepped up to contribute to the cause. Burning Spear Spur, among others, has committed to maintaining cleanliness around their premises, aligning with Mayor Nthatisi's call for collective responsibility in ensuring a cleaner Mangaung.
"The ongoing campaign seeks to keep residents informed about the progress on the ground, demonstrating the MMM's unwavering dedication to service delivery," stated Khedama. By promoting transparency and accountability, the municipality aims to foster trust and confidence among its constituents.
Addressing concerns regarding the flats in Brandwag, Khedama acknowledged the existence of pending administrative issues concerning the occupants. However, he assured residents that the campaign would provide regular updates on the progress made in addressing such matters, reaffirming the city's commitment to efficient service delivery.
The Brandwag clean-up campaign signifies a pivotal moment in the MMM's efforts to rejuvenate Mangaung's urban landscape. With community involvement and proactive measures in place, the municipality strides forward in its mission to create a cleaner, healthier, and more vibrant environment for all its residents.
